The Riding for the Disabled Winton Group - charity number SCO28608.
The group was founded by Betty Kenneth in 1973 with one class operating every week.
Betty was a well known and respected figure in Ayrshire and she very quickly built up a dedicated band of helpers and fundraisers whom she inspired with her enthusiasm and leadership.
When Betty moved down south in 1982 the group was supporting fifty disabled young adults and children every week; inspired by her efforts the group still prospers today.
Sadly Betty Kenneth passed away in 2008 but her memory will live on through the Winton Group.
The Winton Group supports disabled children from the wider Ayrshire community who attend specialist schools in full time education, the children suffer from various levels of disability and learning difficulties.
The group operates at Fergushill Riding Stables based in Kilwinning, Ayrshire and has done so for 35 years.
HRH The Princess Royal, President of the Riding for the Disabled Association, visited Fergushill Riding Stables in 1994 to celebrate the Winton Groups 21st birthday.
